When it comes to roulette strategies, the Fibonacci Strategy involves betting by adding the last two bets together. With this method, you can leave with a profit even if you lost more games than you won. This will introduce you to the various bets involved in roulette. You can make several types of wagers on a roulette table, which is basically a 3-column chart that lists the 36 numbers on the wheel. The types of wagers are grouped into 2 categories: Inside bets are wagers placed on specific numbers on the table. If you bet $1 on a number.

Roulette is a negative expectation game. On the American double zero wheel, the house has a 5.26 edge, and there is no betting strategy or system that can change the house edge. If you see any advertisements for a system that claims to beat the game of Roulette, don’t waste your money. These claims are false. Over the years some of the greatest minds in history have tried to devise a system to beat the game.

Albert Einstein studied the problem of how to beat the game of Roulette. After spending time on the problem he concluded that it could not be done and he was quoted as saying, 'The only way to beat Roulette is to steal the money when the dealer's not looking.' In a sense, he was correct. His point was that there is no way to employ some mathematical configuration of bets to overcome the house edge.

Roulette Betting Patterns

Although there is no strategy for beating the game, many players like to employ a set betting pattern when they play Roulette. Instead of dropping chips all over the layout they prefer to make bets that cover multiple numbers along with a straight bet on a single number in hopes of grinding out small wins while allowing them to play longer. Here are two popular Roulette betting strategies for playing the inside numbers. If you are unfamiliar with the inside bets, look at this Roulette step by step.

Double Street Quad Strategy

With this strategy, you will make wagers on two double streets along with a quad or corner bet and one straight up number. By using this betting pattern, you are covering 17 numbers on the layout, and there will not be more than five adjacent slots on the wheel that are not covered.

You will be wagering six chips per spin. You will put two chips on each of the double streets and one chip on the corner bet and straight number. You can select your favorite number to play straight up. I like to play the number five so here are the numbers I use.

Two chips on the double street to cover: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
Two chips on the double street to cover: 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33
One chip on the corner to cover: 17, 18, 20, 21
One chip on the number 5. (You can pick your favorite number, but it should be one that is not covered by one of your other bets.)

The Pay Off

The double street pays 5 to 1. You have two chips on it, so you will collect ten chips if the ball lands on one of the numbers covered by your double street bet. You will have a profit of six chips. (You will lose four chips. Two from your other double street and one from your quad bet and one from your straight up bet.)

The Corner/Quad bet pays 8 to 1. If the ball lands on one of these four numbers you will have a profit of three chips. (You will lose four chips on the double street wagers and one chip on the straight number.)

The straight up number pays 35 to 1. If the ball lands on your number you will have a profit of 30 chips. (You will lose four chips on the double street wagers and one chip on the corner bet.)

Five Quad Strategy

With this strategy, you will make five quad/corner bets along with a single straight up number. With this betting pattern, you are covering 21 numbers on the layout. If you select a straight up number that is included in one of your corner bets, you will only be covering 20 numbers. You will put a single chip on each of the following corner bets:
5, 6, 8, 9
10, 11, 13, 14
17, 18, 20, 21
25, 26, 28, 29
32, 33, 35, 36
Bet one chip on your favorite straight number.

The quad bet pays 8 to 1 so if the ball lands on one the numbers in any of you quad bets you will collect will make a profit of three chips. You collect eight but lose four on your other quad bets and one on your straight up bets.
The straight up number pays 35 to 1. If the ball lands on your number you will have a profit of 30 chips. (You will lose five chips on the five corner bet.)

Final Tips

Both of these strategies are designed to extend your time at the table. You will not get rich as you are only grinding out small profits on each winning spin. If you want to try for a bigger win, you can add one chip to the bet that wins in hopes of having repeating numbers. You can also vary the specific numbers that you use for the double street or corner bets. Experiment with your own betting patterns. You won’t get rich, but you will have fun. One final tip is always to try to play at a full table. This will slow the game down and reduce the time your money is at risk while increasing your comp time.

We’ll cover them in detail now using American Roulette odds. Please note that of course you can place the bets up until “no more bets” is said and that covers everything – be it inside bets or outside bets.

Inside Bets: Straight Bet

The most common and simplest bet to make inside – you’re betting on the number that will hit on the very next spin. Odds are 35/1. With 36 numbers to choose from – let’s say you want to go with your lucky number, which is 23.

You would place the amount you want to bet on 23. We’ll use $10 for all examples. So you place $10 in chips down on the number 23 on the betting area. After the spin is completed, if the ball landed on 23, then you win $350. If it lands on any other number, you lose that bet that you placed.

Roulette Inside Betting Strategy

Inside Bets: Split Bet

The split bet is very similar to the straight bet – except you are betting two numbers, not one.

When you go to place your bet down, you will put it down on the line in between two numbers. So for example – 28 and 31 are beside each other. If you placed $10 down in between 28 and 31, on the line in between them – that would mean you are betting on both of those numbers.

The payoff is 17/1 so a split bet of $10 on 2 numbers will get you a $170 payout if one of the numbers come in.

Inside Bets: Trio Bet

Similar to the above two – except in this one, you are now betting three separate numbers. This is called a trio bet usually, although you may hear people refer to it as a “street bet” or “stream bet”.

Let’s take a quick reminder look at the Roulette betting layout:

Okay so see the rows of 1,2,3 or 4,5,6 or 19,20,21? That’s the sort of “trio” that you can bet on. You would place your bet on the line at the very end of the row. So if you were to bet 19,20,21 you would place the bet on the line beside 21, and the green area.

Payout for these bad boys is 11/1 and is a very popular bet. $10 would get you $110 for example, if you bet 19,20,21 and either of those 3 numbers came up.

Inside Bets: Four Number Bet

Noticing a trend? I hope so. We are going up 1 additional number at a time, all the way to 6 numbers.

This one is very simple – and is often referred to as a square bet. You put the chips you wish to bet on the very corner where four numbers are touching. So you could bet 22,23,25,26 all at once by placing a chip directly in the middle of them all, so it is covering all 4 numbers. Note that often the croupier may ask for clarification about that bet just to make sure you are placing a four number bet.

Roulette Inside Bet Strategy

Payout for this is 8/1, so $80 on a $10 payout with 4 numbers covering you.

Inside Bets: Five Number Bet

This one is a lot more restrictive as you can only bet 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. You can’t play any other numbers.

To place this bet, you would place your chips on the sideline where the 0 and 1 or 00 and 3 touch. And hey don’t worry – if you’re confused about thios just ask the croupier or dealer where exactly to place the bet. Tell them you want the five numbers bet.

If you hit 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 then you win with a payout of 6/1.

Inside Bets: Six Number Bet

This one is a lot more versatile than the 5 number bet. You get to choose two rows that you can bet on. For example – 19, 20, 21 and 22, 23, 24. Payout is 5/1 which isn’t bad and it’s probably my favourite bet – I’ll always have money on 2 rows when I play Roulette.

You would place the bet on the very side line, which is covering both rows so it is touching exactly 3 lines.

Payout is 5/1 as mentioned.
